An artist will often pass a building, or a particular scene where the sunlight plays across a subject, many times before he suddenly sees somthing that freezes him. “Wow, that is really something.! I have to paint that.” Then he goes through seeing it over and over, until one day he gets his camera and sketchpad out and goes to work This is often the way things work with me. The above painting, which I call “Walking The Dunes” was started on a cold moring in Destin Florida, when a friend and I set out for a morning stroll. I took his picture just as he came over a high sweeping sand dune, and this was the basis for my painting. If you look at my art you can rest assurerd yoiu can see just what started the painting, and hopefully the work makes you feel just what I felt at that moment. That is, after all, what creating art is all about.
